Scope and Content Fishing station, Kirkhouse Point, South Ronaldsay, Orkney This view shows a beach fishery, like many in the North Isles, with a home-made wooden winch and two cast-iron ones for hauling boats out of the water. There is no gear store at this site. This view shows the fishery looking towards the sea. A channel has been cleared through the boulders on the beach, to provide a safe way into the shore. By 1998 this station was no longer in use. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
