Scope and Content Aerial view of Dumbarton, Strathclyde This oblique aerial photograph of shipbuilding yards at Dumbarton was taken during World War II by the Royal Air Force. This view shows William Denny's shipbuilding yard with the Blackburn aircraft factory immediately to the rear. Oblique air photographs were taken by the RAF No 1 CAM (camouflage) unit to check the effectiveness of camouflage on industrial structures such as coal mines, shipyards, electricity generating stations and engineering works when viewed from the air.
