Scope and Content Grave-slab in chapel at Kilmory Knap, Argyll and Bute In 1934 the chapel was restored and roofed with glass by the Office of Works. The chapel now houses Early Christian and medieval stones from the chapel and churchyard. Many of their original positions are unknown. At the top of this grave-slab there is an elaborate cross with a plaited centre. Other decorations include: a casket with binding strips, a comb, a mirror, shears, holly leaves, a dog, a bird, four leaf-medallions and a long-beaked quadruped. The grave-slab is thought to be a product of the Loch Sween school of stone carving. In Argyll there were four main styles, or schools, of stone carving in the 14th-early 16th century: Iona, Kintyre, Loch Awe, and Loch Sween. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
