MacLagan's drawing of Ballymeanoch shows the arrangement of the stones, with the (now lost) outlying stone with its circular perforation. An excavation in 1977 recovered the fragmented outlying stone. The purpose of standing stones remains uncertain. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
