Scope and Content Ashfield Silk Dyeing Works, Perthshire This complex both dyed and printed silk and artificial silk fabrics, and was housed in a group of single-storey sandstone rubble buildings, some with roof-ridge ventilators. There was an associated factory village. This view shows heated copper pans used for preparing dyestuffs for use in the printing machines. Similar pans were used in the baking and confectionery trades. This works closed at the end of 1975. It was the last textile-printing works in Scotland. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
