Scope and Content Houses, The Square, Forteviot, Perthshire Forteviot village was rebuilt 1925-6 as a model estate village for the Dupplin estate, which belonged to the Dewar family, whisky distillers and blenders. The designer was James Miller of Stirling, who adopted the then fashionable Arts and Crafts style. This view shows the west range of the houses, which form a single terraced block, on a U-plan, with a communal green in front. The village was the only one in Scotland remodelled in this way, and remains remarkably unaltered. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
