Scope and Content Dalquhurn Printworks, Renton, Dunbartonshire Dalquhurn Printworks was founded in 1715 as a bleachworks, and developed as a calico printing works during the 19th century by William Stirling and Sons. It was taken over by the United Turkey Red Co Ltd in 1897, and closed in 1937. This building may have been a final inspection and dispatch block, as it is at the entrance to the complex, and has extensive roof glazing. The red and white brick construction and round-headed openings suggest that it was built in the 1860s. The buildings were used by the War Department during the First World War, and when returned to United Turkey Red was let to a number of different users. They retained a part, which closed in 1961.
