Scope and Content Shillahill Bridge, Dumfriesshire This large five-span masonry bridge was designed by George Cadell Bruce. It is built of rock-faced ashlar, and has flat segmental arches and slender piers with arched cutwaters. This view shows the bridge from the south. The slenderness of its design is clearly evident. This was the last large masonry road bridge built in south-west Scotland. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
