Scope and Content Cloch Lighthouse, Gourock, Renfrewshire The Cloch Lighthouse is one of the oldest in Scotland. The tower dates from 1797, but the lantern and the keepers' houses and outbuildings are later. The light was built for the Clyde Lighthouses Trust. This view shows the lighthouse from the south, with the base of the foghorn to the left of the tower, and what appears to have been the engine room for the foghorn on the right. The light here is now a minor one, given by the small light on a pole to the left of the lantern. The keepers' houses are now in private ownership. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
