Scope and Content Ruin of Fairafar Mill, Cramond, Midlothian The building of which this is the cut-down remains was originally a corn mill, but was converted into an iron forge to work up bar iron into saleable products, by Carron Company. There were three waterwheels, the largest probably for a tilt hammer. This view shows the ruin of the mill from a walkway constructed in part over the lade from the weir to the mill. The ruined mill is a feature of the riverside walkway, and is conserved to a certain extent for that reason. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
