Scope and Content Cramond Old Bridge, Midlothian This bridge was originally constructed in about 1500, and extensively repaired in 1617-19, 1687-91, 1761, 1776 and 1854. It has three slightly pointed arches and massive triangular cutwaters. The roadway is level. This view shows the bridge from the north east. There west-most arch is ribbed, as all probably originally were. The bridge has been bypassed for road traffic for many years, but is still a footbridge. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
