Scope and Content Cambus Distillery Cambus distillery is said to have been founded by John Moubray in 1806, and seems from the first to have been one of the large distilleries serving the London market. It was converted into a grain distillery c1836. This view shows the stillhouses for the two Coffey continuous stills operating in 1974. The nearer stillhouse, with its cast iron roof tank, is of mid-19th century date. Cambus was one of the distilleries which came together in 1877 to form The Distillers' Company Ltd to prevent ruinous competition resulting from the enormous output from continuous stills.
