Scope and Content Masonry road bridge, Mary Bridge, Bridge End, near Cambus This is a two-span masonry bridge, with ribbed arches and a massive pier with triangular cutwaters. The western approaches have retaining walls pierced by three widely-spaced arches, one of which is ribbed. This view shows the bridge from the north east. The four ribs of the western main span can be seen. The construction is of fairly small rubble, not as fine as in other bridges of this period. The bridge was bypassed early this century by a massive N-truss steel bridge to the north. This was in turn by-passed in the late 1990s. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
