Linthaugh Bridge View from upstream, from SW

SC 452325

Description Linthaugh Bridge View from upstream, from SW

Date 6/10/1974

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 452325

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Bridge, Linthaugh, Stonehouse, Lanarkshire This is a handsome two-span masonry bridge, with long segmental arches and a comparatively slender pier, with triangular cutwaters. This view shows the bridge from the west. The good proportions of the structure are clear, as is the quality of the masonry. This is an excellent, if slightly conservative, example of a late 18th century bridge. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
