Scope and Content North British Steel Foundry, Armadale, West Lothian Steel castings were used in a wide range of engineering industries until recently, although difficult to make well. With the decline of heavy manufacturing industry in Scotland, and the increasing use of nodular cast-iron, steelfounding has contracted.
