Scope and Content Drumpark Brickworks, Bargeddie, Lanarkshire This brickworks was established c1900, and made engineering bricks using a large transverse-arched kiln and a number of smaller downdraught kilns, some round and some rectangular. This view shows the last surviving round downdraught kiln at Drumpark. Very unusually it has had a shelter all round, though by the time this photograph was taken the roof-covering had gone. The works closed in 1977 and was demolished soon after. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
