Scope and Content Law Junction Tile Works, Law, Lanarkshire This tile works was built primarily to make clay tile pipes for field drainage, but also made flower pots and bowls for the local horticultural industry. It extracted clay from an adjacent field. This view shows the interior of the large rectangular downdraught kiln. The hot gases from the external fires entered the chamber at the top of the brick piers, passing through the stack of pipes, and leaving the kiln though the holes in the floor. The works closed in 1975, and has since been demolished. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
