Scope and Content Welsh's Bridge signal box and gantry, Inverness, Inverness-shire This large signal box and gantry were built when Inverness Station and its environs were resignalled in the late 19th century, probably to coincide with the opening of the direct line to Aviemore in 1897. This view shows the box and gantry from the south east. The signals on the left side of the gantry were designed to serve the steam locomotive depot and goods yard to the south of the station approaches, and went when these closed. These structures have since been demolished as a result of the resignalling of the Highland railways. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
