Scope and Content Caledonian Brewery, Slateford Road, Edinburgh This brewery was built by Lorimer & Clark Ltd, and was one of Edinburgh's smaller breweries. Its buildings were constructed of red and white brick. This view shows the brewery from the south east, with the former floor maltings in the foreground. The coppers were at that time still coal-fired, hence the smoke coming from the chimney. Since 1974 the brewery, then owned by Vaux, has become an independent brewery. Two fires destroyed first the maltings and then the copper house, and some rebuilding has taken place, though not restoration. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
