Scope and Content Killantringan Lighthouse, Wigtownshire This lighthouse was built in 1900, and designed by D.A.Stevenson. It has a shorter, simpler tower than earlier lights, but a more elaborate lantern. This view shows the lighthouse tower from the north. The design of the lantern. with two galleries, is typical of the period. The construction of Killantringan reflected the increasing shipping traffic using the Irish Channel.
