Scope and Content Mull of Galloway Lighthouse, Wigtownshire This lighthouse marks the extreme south-west of Scotland. It was designed by Robert Stevenson, and is a good example of one of his larger, later towers. The flat-roofed keepers' houses are original, but the engine room for the foghorn is later This view shows the arrangement of the lighthouse compound, with the keepers' houses on the left and the engine room on the right. By the time this photograph was taken the light had been electrified and automated, using multiple sealed-beam, car-headlamp, bulbs. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
