Scope and Content Drummore Harbour, Wigtownshire This harbour was formed from a natural haven by constructing a masonry pier that also served as a breakwater. It was the best harbour in the southern Rhinns. This view shows the long breakwater/ pier, and the area it protected, which largely dried out at low tide, as seen here. This harbour was much used by sailing coasters even after the railways came to Galloway, as there were no railways in the southern Rhinns. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
