Scope and Content Cup-marked rocks at Brough, Whalsay, Shetland There are two sets of cup-marked rocks on the E side of a knoll at Brough. The markings have been carved onto the bare rock-faces. They lack the ring-markings often associated with such rocks. This is a view of one of the sets of cup-markings. About thirty have been pecked in two groups. Though both contain only simple cup-marks, the lower group has three joined together in a trefoil shape. Cup markings are rarely found on Shetland. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
