Scope and Content Grennan Mill, near Dalry, Kirkcudbrightshire This is a water-powered corn mill, said to have been founded in 1506. but rebuilt in the late 18th century, and with a late 19th or early 20th century all-iron waterwheel, 1.02 by 4.27m, which drove three pairs of stones. This view shows the interior of the mill proper, with one of the pairs of stones in the corner, without its casing and hopper. The vertical shaft is attached to the axle of the main drive, and drove a sack hoist above, as well as the pulley to the right. This small mill was one of the best-preserved in south west Scotland.
