Scope and Content Carsfad Hydroelectric Power Station, Kirkcudbrightshire This was one of a series of power stations on the Galloway Hydroelectric Scheme, each with its associated dam or barrage. This view shows the power station from the west, with its associated power line. The dam is out of sight on the left. Like the dam, the power station is constructed of concrete. The Galloway Hydroelectric Scheme was the first really large scheme of its kind in Scotland, and opened in 1936. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
