Scope and Content Greenock, Inverclyde Luftwaffe aerial photograph of Greenock, taken during World War II. A high-altitude view of Greenock, with a torpedo factory identified, along with a shipyard and harbour. An anti-aircraft battery is noted to the west of the town. The German Luftwaffe took aerial photographs of parts of Scotland throughout World War II. The photographs were used for intelligence work, such as selecting targets, assessing bombing accuracy and finding equipment and defensive positions. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
