Scope and Content Fish box factory, Sinclair Road, Torry, Aberdeenshire This factory was built by James Cordiner & Son Ltd to supply wooden fish boxes to the white-fish industry, mainly in north-east Scotland. This view shows the street frontage of the factory from the north west. It is constructed of corrugated iron, a material much used in the fishing and associated industries at the turn of the century. The landing of white fish from Aberdeen-owned trawlers created many economic opportunities in associated industries. The industrial suburb of Torry provided a base for a wide range of factories.
