Scope and Content Auchtertool Distillery, Fife This was a Lowland Scotch malt whisky distillery, said to have been converted from a brewery. It operated as a distillery until 1927, and as a maltings and warehouses until c1971, when the maltings closed. This view shows the distillery from the east, with a block of warehouses in the foreground, and the maltings to the rear, with its twin pagoda kiln ventilators. The maltings appear to be late 19th century in date. The buildings in this view have since been demolished. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
