Scope and Content Dunfermline Upper Station, Fife This station was built for the Stirling & Dunfermline Railway, the first railway to reach Dunfermline. It was subsequently extended by the North British Railway. This view shows the station from the west. The two-storey building on the right incorporates the agent's house, and probably dates from the opening. The platform awnings and the unusual lattice-girder footbridge are probably late 19th century. This station had been closed to passengers since 1968. The line closed to freight in 1979 and the station was subsequently demolished. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
