Scope and Content Suspension footbridge, Cambus o'May, Aberdeenshire This footbridge was built by James Abernethy & Co, Ferryhill Foundry, Aberdeen, in the same style as bridges at Polhollick and Invercauld on the Dee and Aberlour on the Spey. This one was paid for by a Mr Alexander Gordon of Hildenborough, Kent This view shows the bridge from the south east. The unspoiled setting is evident. The stretch of the Dee on which the bridge was built provides excellent salmon fishing, and the donor, Mr Gordon, appears to have been an angler. Aberdeen was a notable centre for suspension bridge manufacture in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Most were exported. All had the wire-rope cables seen here.
