Scope and Content Tollhouse, Kincardine O'Neil, Aberdeenshire This is a good example of a bow-ended tollhouse, with its long axis at right angles to the road. It is harled, with a slated roof, and has an extension to the rear. This view shows the tollhouse from the south west. It is probable that the central window of the bow was originally a door. Tolls on Scottish roads and bridges were abolished in the 1880s. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
