Scope and Content Strathisla Distillery, Keith, Banffshire This Scotch malt whisky distillery was founded by the Milltown Distillery Co. It was eventually acquired in 1950 by Chivas Brothers Ltd. who enlarged it in 1965. They installed a hospitality suite in the mid 1990s. This view shows the distillery from the road, with the stillhouse on the left, and the former malt kilns and maltings on the right. The kiln ventilators have been retained for cosmetic reasons, and the waterwheel relocated from another part of the site. This is one of the oldest legal distilling sites in Scotland.
