Scope and Content Hopeman Harbour, Morayshire This harbour was originally a basin formed by a straight and an L-plan pier. The improvements of c.1890 consisted of the addition of a large concrete pier outside, blocking up the original entrance, and driving a new one through the earlier L-plan pier. This view shows the basin from the south, with the c.1890 pier beyond. This harbour was designed for coastal shipping and fishing. The 1890s extension was made to accommodate boats engaged in drift netting for herring. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
