Scope and Content Benrinnes Distillery, Banffshire This Scotch malt whisky distillery was founded in 1826 by Peter McKenzie. It passed through several owners before coming into the hands of Scottish Malt Distillers, who rebuilt it in 1955-6, and doubled its capacity in 1966. This view shows the distillery from the north. The buildings on the left date mainly from the 1950s. This distillery is unusual in employing a form of triple distillation, with three stills needed to complete the distillation instead of the normal two. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
