Description Inverness, Thornbush Road, Thornbush Brewery General view from Thornbush Road, from E

Date 1974

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 440419

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Former Thornbush Brewery, Inverness, Inverness-shire This warehouse range was part of the Thornbush Brewery, a small brewery which served local needs. By the time this photograph was taken the brewery had closed, and the building was used as a store. This view shows the warehouse range from the south east. The other brewery buildings were presumably behind the wall on the left. Small urban breweries like this one were killed off by competition from the large Lowland breweries during the 1950s and 60s.
