Scope and Content Chambered cairn, Corrimony, Glen Urquhart, Inverness-shire Corrimony is a Clava-type cairn, situated at the head of Glen Urquhart, beside the River Enrick. Eleven standing stones surround the cairn, and both the chamber and the passage are still partially roofed. The cairn has a kerb, outside which is a low bank. This view shows the entrance to the passage. Chambered cairns belong to the Neolithic, the period of the first farming peoples of Scotland, and were the burial places for local communities. The earliest tombs were built around 4000 BC, but monuments of Clava type appear to date to around 2000 BC. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
