Scope and Content Georgemas Junction Station, Caithness This station was built for the Sutherland and Caithness Railway. It is at the junction between the lines to Wick and Thurso from Inverness. This view shows the station from the south west. The station building incorporates the agent's house. The footbridge was made in 1881 by Oliver & Arrol, Edinburgh, to a standard Highland Railway design. The actual junction is immediately west of the station. There is a snow blower on the south-bound track just beyond the junction, a device consisting of fixed sloping surfaces to direct wind into a shallow cutting to prevent formation of drifts of snow.
