SC 438063

Description Scrabster Harbour, Warehouses View from SE

Date 15/5/1974

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 438063

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Scrabster Harbour, near Thurso, Caithness This harbour has been developed over many years, as a ferry port for Orkney, and as a fishing port. In 1974 some of the earlier work was still evident. This view shows an early 19th century quay wall, with a warehouse of the same period. The workmanship of the masonry is similar to that in Pultneytown harbour, Wick. At the quay is a salmon-fishing coble. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
