Scope and Content Harbour, Ackergillshore, Caithness This is a small harbour on the shore of Sinclair's Bay. On the east side is an irregular-plan mass-concrete breakwater, and on the west a reinforced-concrete ramp and boathouse, formerly a lifeboat station. In between is a beach-fishing station. This view shows the harbour looking north, with a variety of small boats and kayaks in evidence. The boat in the water is a coble, for commercial salmon fishing. The concrete pier may have been built for shipping grain from the rich arable farms in the vicinity. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
