Noss Head Lighthouse View from S

SC 435480

Description Noss Head Lighthouse View from S

Date 15/5/1974

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 435480

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Noss Head Lighthouse, Caithness This lighthouse was designed by Alan Stevenson as a marker for the haven of Wick Bay. Because of its cliff-top location the tower is relatively short. It is circular in section with a corbelled gallery and simple cast iron railings. This view shows the lighthouse from the south, showing the semicircular base. The triangular-paned lantern is not original. To the right is the rear of the foghorn. As with all other Northern Lighthouse Board lights this one has been automated. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
