Scope and Content Dunbeath Bridge, Caithness This bridge over the Dunbeath Water is one of the larger single-span bridges on the Caithness section of the great road from Inverness to Wick and Thurso, designed by Thomas Telford. This view shows the bridge in its setting, with steep gradients on either side. In the left background is the former Dunbeath Mill, a corn mill, and in the right background the Dunbeath Hotel, built as a coaching inn. This landscape is associated with the novels of Neil Gunn, who spent his boyhood here. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
