Scope and Content Woollen mill, Brora, Sutherland This mill was originally built of local bricks as the Duke of Sutherland's engineering works, to serve his colliery and brickworks, as well as his agricultural machinery. It later became a tweed mill This view shows the mill from the east, with the Duke's works to the left. The chimney also belongs to that period Hunter of Brora found the existing works out of date by the early 1990s, and have moved to a new purpose-built factory on the southern outskirts of the town Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
