Scope and Content Dunrobin Station, Sutherland The original station on this site was on the Duke of Sutherland's private railway from Golspie to Helmsdale, and was a rustic timber structure. It was replaced in 1902 by this more 'Arts and Crafts' structure, designed by L Bisset. This view shows the station building from the north west. It was the Duke's property until nationalisation of the railways, together with his own locomotive, saloon carriage, and the sleeping car he used to travel to London. After many years of neglect the building was refurbished in the mid 1990s to serve summer visitors to Dunrobin Castle. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
