Date 1974

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 435361

Scope and Content Brora Station, Sutherland This station was originally part of the Duke of Sutherland's private railway from Golspie to Helmsdale. The present building was constructed by The Highland Railway in 1895, and is a plain H-plan structure with an awning inset on the platform side. This view shows the main building, on the north-bound platform, with the timber-clad goods shed beyond. The main building is similar in character to the wooden buildings being put up by the Highland in the 1890s. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
