Scope and Content Golspie Station, Sutherland This station was built as the terminus of the Sutherland Railway, and bears its SR monogram, The L-plan layout with awning in the angle is not unusual, but the chunky "Arts and Crafts' architectural treatment is. This view shows the main building, on the south-bound platform, from the south west. Note the original lower platform level to the left. This station was built so grandly because it served the Duke of Sutherland's village of Golspie and his seat of Dunrobin Castle. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
