Scope and Content Rogart Mills, Sutherland These mills appear to have been built soon after the opening of the railway. One was a tweed mill, and the other a corn mill, both apparently water-powered. Both closed in the 1950s. This view shows the corn mill on the left, with kiln nearest to the camera, and the tweed mill on the right. The proximity to the station is clear from the platform end in the left foreground. This was exactly the kind of development that the Duke of Sutherland had in mind in promoting his railway.
