SC 435205

Description Tain, Station Road, Station View of goods yard showing hand crane and shed

Date 1974

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 435205

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Tain Station, Ross and Cromarty This station was opened in 1864 by the Ross-shire Extension Railway. It has a symmetrical single-storey Italianate building on the north-bound platform, and had a standard Highland lattice-girder footbridge. This view shows the goods yard, with the typical Highland Railway vertically-boarded goods shed in the background, and an unusual relatively modern hand crane in the foreground. The structures in this photograph have now been demolished. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
