Scope and Content Tain Station, Ross and Cromarty This station was opened in 1864 by the Ross-shire Extension Railway. It has a symmetrical single-storey Italianate building on the north-bound platform, and had a standard Highland lattice-girder footbridge. This view shows the platform side of the station from the west, showing the end pavilions linked by the inset awning. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
