Scope and Content Kingussie Station, Inverness-shire This station was opened by the Inverness & Perth Junction Railway in 1863, but it was rebuilt by The Highland Railway in 1891, to designs by William Roberts. This view shows the road side of the main station building, on the Inverness-bound platform. It is simpler in design than other Highland stations of the period, but generally similar in character. This and other stations south of Aviemore on the former Inverness & Perth Junction were probably upgraded in advance of the opening of the new direct line to Inverness in 1897.
