Scope and Content Pitlochry Station, Perthshire This station was opened in 1863 by the Inverness & Perth Junction Railway, but was rebuilt c1890 by The Highland Railway to cope with increasing tourist traffic. This view shows the approach road to the south-bound platform, with the timber goods shed on the right. This is of a typical Highland Railway type. It was demolished c1990. Pitlochry became an inland resort as a result of the coming of the railway, and is still an important holiday destination. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
